Today the first five stops of the MRT Blue Line planned extensions have commenced operation to the public.
From today until Sunday 29th September all the journeys among the new stops are completely free of charge and the operation hours will be from 10am to 4pm every day.
The ~5.5km extension starts from Hua Lamphong and adds the following stops, in order: Wat Mangkon, Sam Yot, Sanam Chai, Itsaraphap, and Tha Phra.
The operator MRTA has said that a new fleet of trains will be used in this new extension.
This is just the first extension to open, however we expect another further extension by the end of the year that will add six more stops after Tha Phra.
The news don’t stop here: as promised last year, BTS Sukhumvit will open a new North extension in about two weeks! Stay tuned for more updates!
